Unusual Sprite bottle - 7/17/2006 10:56:40 AM    digdug Posts: 619 Joined: 11/4/2004 From: Atlanta Status: offline Here is a Sprite bottle that is in clear glass.  Came from the Houston Coca Cola Bottling plant. One had a cap that said "Sprite Rootbeer".  I am guessing they were test market bottles for flavors of Sprite other than Lemon Lime in the Houston, Texas area. (in reply to digdug) Post #: 3

Someone from Coca-Cola told me this: "We bought the Sprite trademark from the Houston Coca-Cola bottler around 1955 and introduced Sprite nationwide in 1961."  So-it started out as a local bottlers 'flavor' line. (Rootbeer, Orange, Grape, etc.) Then Coca-Cola Company bought the rights to it.   Pretty good find! (in reply to madman) Post #: 5
