Well, I went out to a dump after work for about one hour before it got to dark I found this bottle. It is embossed Bunte with CHICAGO in the banner. It stands 7.5'' tall & is 2.25'' in dia.. The top reminds me of the t. o. c. pickles. The coolest thing is there are spots on the inside where the glass to thin. It looks like a bubble in the glass but it is smooth on the outside and you can't feel it. Any info would help on rarity or what it was used for!!!!!

Here is some more, remember the outside is smooth and you can only feel the way it is concaved on the inside. Was wondering if anybody might know what has caused this???

Zumwalt has 3 listings for Bunte, page 62.  Ther're all listed as a clear canning jar with glass lid and wire clamp, and all common.  According to Zumwalt, Albert Bunte started in 1874 a confectionary store, in 1876 it became Bunte Brothers. In 1902 it was changed to Bunte Brothers and Spoehr, then back to Bunte Brothers in 1910.  They were listed as wholesale confectioners in 1910.  A trademark in 1907 was # 13,839 for "cocoa beans" and in 1908 was #17,159 for candies and chocolates.  Maybe your jar was for one of those products?

They are as stated above candy jars. I have had a couple of labeled ones over the years (when I was collecting food containers big time). One I had contained malted Chocolate balls, one mints. I have dug several sizes of those from large to small. There are also a couple of more deco jars they put out I have seen. I also thought they were neat finds especially when you can find one with the original lid.
