Here's another flask like the one noted: It's getting some attention as it is an early Clevenger. However, both flasks show the same intentional chipping on the base, and one additionally has some "age" scratches/wear.These originally had a circular impression in the base to simulate a pontil. Whoever chipped them was hoping they would seem more authentic. It's a wonder they didn't crack the flask during the process.
