Hello all,

So I scored a day off and went to a local dump site here in New Jersey.  Same site as last time.  I met a regular digger at the site who claims only 50% of the dump is dug and he's been at it for 10 years.  Told me of a couple of instances where he has dug up two crates of blob bottles that were tossed... jealous!  Very knowledgeable guy and turned me toward another site a little further away that yields older stuff and sometimes good poison bottles.  Can't wait to check that one out.  Always good to network with the folks you meet in the field.

Here are the majority of my finds.  I still have 6 more quart milk bottles soaking in the tub along with a bunch of smaller bottles and will post better pictures with my better camera soon.  Hopefully tonight.  Mostly common stuff, but I found some different milk bottles that are interesting along with a couple of jars that I haven't seen before.  Here's a list of my main finds.  All ABM.  I'll update once the other bottles are clean too.

1.  Sheffield Milk Quart (Doesn't say where it's from)
2.  Maplewood Dairy Quart - Jamesburg, NJ
3.  Hightstown Guernsey Quart
4.  Forsgate Farms Pint
5.  Paulus Dairy Pint - New Brunswick
6.  Forsgate Farms 1/2 pints - found a few of these that vary.
7.  Borden's half pint - Doesn't say location
8.  Ball Perfect Mason - aqua blue
9.  Ball Ideal - aqua blue
10.  White Crown Mason - aqua blue
11.  Lustre - R.E. Tongue & Bros Phila (Mason jar)
12.  Bumsteads Worm Syrup
13.  Gudes Pepto Mangan
14.  3 oz The Rexall Store
15.  Large size Milk of Magnesia cobalt
16.  Larger Lysol
17.  The Tarrant Co Chemists NY
18.  Large Bromo Seltzer
19.  Bourjois (the non screw-top version)
20.  Three different wine bottles one being Dubonnet (I know... common stuff, but I liked the colors.)
21.  Small screw-cap train figural (Anybody know of these?)
22.  Green depression teacup with embossed grapes and fruit.
23.  Small green depression salt dish.
24.  2 Cokes - One from Newark the other from NY

So.... Mostly common stuff but I decided to keep it.  I'm thinking of putting together a couple of lots of the pretty but common bottles for an upcoming auction.  There are people out there that buy them for decorating, etc...

Anyway, here's a pic to start that might be a little blurry.  I'll get the real camera out tonight hopefully and take some better close-ups.

Any idea how much the trains go for?  It is perfect besides the missing cap.  John, I have a ton of milks and promise I will post better pics of all of them as soon as I can.

Congrats on the nice finds, I'm brand new at this but I like the green bottle in the front on the right and the 6 bottles around it, very nice! Good luck at the new spot the guy told you about.

This one's similar except mine has a screw cap i think...  Think this site's price is too high for it though.

This is a nice old glass locomotive candy container with the original candy intact. It is all glass, clear, blown bottle with opening at the front end with a cork closure. The approx. measurements are 3 3/4" long, 1 5/8" high and cab top is 1 1/8" wide. The container is marked on the left side under the stack "E3s - 7/8 oz." and "1028" under the cab. On the right side it is marked "1028" under the cab and on the cylinder "PATENTED". In the circular hollow on the cab end a "4" is impressed. The wheels, cab top, windows, and top of the domes are stippled. This candy container was manufactured for the Turney H Stough Company of Jeannette, PA. There were several glass houses which produced the glass containers for them. Turney himself designed and drew up the specifications for the molds. The Turney H Stough Company was active from 1939 -1964. .

I have a feeling these may be 2 unembossed Helme Snuff bottles from the railroad mill in Helmetta.  Not sure though...
