What is it ???? Long tin ? silver ? metal thingy ! How long is this item? I have dug very similar shaped items usually silver plated brass. They were tongs used for picking up sugar cubes. someting that was in style for a period.. They were just bent around something about 1/2 in. diam. where the embossing is, sorta like a small set of salad tongs. Someone could have easily flattened them before they were thrown away.Google images Antique sugar tongs and you will see some similar examples.
