Hmm..well..I'll email ya the pic if you want to see it..It won't let me upload!

I got out one day Labor day weekend on Saturday and found 2 bottles in a shallow creekbed by a 1800s cemetary. Here is the 1st and the second will be later. I sure wish I had more time to search! Be neat to find some full size bottles and some that are pre 1900..this one is not. The seam goes all the way up through the lip and there is a seam just below around the lip. Doh! I learned a costly lesson today..I tried to force a cloth down while cleaning it and broke it so I had to reglue and dern it..some BBs I used to try to clean it got stuck inside. I got the BB idea from reading digger stories. This bottle is narrow inside and bows in. It is 5.25 high, a little under 1.5 deep and a little over .5 across it's thinnest side. I'll keep it because I found it and heck..it's only my 3rd bottle found since I restarted and it's only 3 of 3 I have! It is clear. If you know what it is please tell me..I can't get clue one from my book. Might be a medicine.

it's real hard to guess at what your bottle is , a picture tells all. we need to figure out why you cant up load. try reducing your photo to a smaller size . go to the help section at the top if you need a photo editing software. it is free i like picasa offered by google. it makes touchup easy. your bottle sounds like an unembossed extract or medicine. try to get a pic uploaded and we will see if i am right.

Hi Kastoo, and welcome to the forum. In regards to using BB's for cleaning, they can damage your bottles, but not by breaking them. They are made of steel coated with copper, and once the softer copper wears off, those little guys will scratch the glass badly. People that tumble their bottles use copper wire, which doesn't scratch when combined with water, polich, etc.

that is an extract bottle from around 1900. put a little hook in the end of a coat hanger wire and you should be able to pull the bb's out. (i did that once ). if you want, use a little sand and water and shake next time. just post a pick when you find a bottle, there is always someone here to help. keep looking !!

Welcome, Kastoo! It's a very pretty color! My favorite cleaning tips for general inside soil is to use aquarium gravel (can get it in grocery pet dept or pet store) and lots of sudsy water, shake well, repeat as often as it seems to be working. For the narrow necks, gentle use of an old fashioned percolator brush, the kind we used to use to clean the stem of the perc basket.
