I recently inherited this bottle.  It is a J.H. Cutter Old Bourbon A.P. Hotaling & Co. Sole Agents.  Amber in color with glop top.  Can anyone tell me what it is worth or how to find that information?  Thanks.

Nice whiskey. what's embossed on the face? Star and shield? Crown and shield? Is there a star on the base (bottom)?

Thanks. Looks like just a crown.  No star on the bottom that I can see.

Kat I'm giuessing your's is similar to this one, just a different distributor. I emailed a whiskey buddy for some info on your's he takes his sweet ass time answering sometimes but he knows his western cylinders.

Lobey,

They are similar.  I heard you mention Kovey's site.  Is that a resource that a lot of people use to price old whiskeys?  $500 to $1500 is quite a range.  If I wanted to sell this, would e-bay be the best place and what if any resources would you recommend to narrow down the value?

Kovel's price guide site is pretty much bullshit. western cylinders are very collectable and depending on the rarity quite desirable. Cutter's had a dozen or more cylinders as well as strap side type flasks and a few pumkin seeds. Prices vary from $30 up to $2500 or more. I have a few inquiries out there about your's so we'll see.
Ebay is a great place to unload it once you determine the value. Then set the starting price or your reserve in your comfort zone and hope the right people see it.
Lobey.

I burned my Kovels in a Field, then ask them how much the ashes would be worth. They said 200 to 10.000 depending on the color.

Glass man, You hit the nail on the head about  Kovels, they pulled the same scam on me { and got the same response!}, and as far as their  bottle pricing..... my nine year old boy knows more about bottles than they do!!
