This "ball" as i call it, is heavy its a few pounds.
its about the exact same size as a base ball.
and as you can see in the pic.. its 2 halfs fused together somehow.

i found it in a field and it was pretty dirty so at first i thought i had a little cannon ball till i got home and hosed it off... Then i thought it was some kind of marble rock that someone somehow heated together but this just seems too heavy and why would someone do that anyway?! lol.

Im just lost on this one.... Any ideas on this weird thing?

Thanks- Dawn

Hi Dawn, that looks like one of the hail stones that fell on us a couple of weeks ago while we were golfing in the Mission Mountains of western Montana! But seriously, what do you think your 'ball' is made out of? Is it ceramic, rock/marble, clay, composite etc.? I know some of the old bocci ball sets had balls that were pretty heavy, and when the paint wore off, they looked like softballs.

looks like an early 1900's crocet ball ! the paint has weathered off of it i think!

my first guess after washing it ...was marble but this seems a little too pasty looking to me. i dunno
my other guess was rock fused over lead ????

its weight is 1.68 pounds

I'll look into that bacci ball thing thanks :)

This has to be one of my strangest finds

Im wondering now if i should go back to the field
If it was from a game like crocet or bacci... there might be more

Thanks for the help :)

i believe that is a victorian era carpet bowl. it was part of a set of a few. it was likley painted in some fashon, but that has faded . that would be a good direction to start your research.
