Gunsmoke and Pitfinder I got an email from Garry over on DEI GRATIA COINS that reads as follows: The obverse on this coin depicts the arms of the British East India Company, and it probably belongs to the trading settlement of Penang or Pulau Penang (Prince of Wales Island), an island lying off the Malay Peninsula that was ceded to the British East India Company in 1786 by Captain Light, who had acquired it through marriage to the daughter of the Sultan of Kedah. The coin itself is either a half-cent (= half pice) or 1 cent (= pice) depending on the size, (the half-cent is 24.5mm, 1 cent slightly bigger) and with the date of 1810, it is of the 3rd series issue. Isn't it great to hear an expert at work
