Hello, my first post here.
I used to collect bottles like a madman. I was part of the Sonoma Bottle club (that might not even be the name any more).

I have a VERY rare and very valuable Botanic Stomach Bitters that I won in a raffle about 6 years ago. When I won it, it was worth atleast $200 according to a few of the books my fellow club members had. Also, there were only about 10 known to exist at the time. I would like to know your thoughts on what it is worth now. Does any body have one of these? My particular piece has an interesting chink inside the glass and non of it is exposed so the surface is fine. You can barley see it, but it is almost un noticible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dory

Nice one. Wish I could "win" one.  Listed as very rare in Ring/Ham either B 167 or B 168 depending on which varient. They are both western bitters too.

Are you selling on ebay? Since its a decent bottle you might want to consider one of the prominent glass auctions.

The bottle was not listed in Kovels book but I did find it listed in Hugh Clevelands bottle pricing guide as 375.00-575.00

I have a couple linked on my web site...
http://www.mattsoldhouse.com/MC/bottles/bottlelinks_auct.htm

You can email most of them a photo and they will give you an estimate of what they think they can sell it for.

Hi Dory !
Does your bottle have any other embossing on it other than the " BOTANIC STOMACH BITTERS " .
Does it have BOTANIC STOMACH BITTERS embossed on the opposite panel , or is it embossed with BACH MEESE & CO. SAN FRANCISCO ?
Both variants are listed as Very Rare...... But the San Fran embossed variant is more desirable and will bring more $$$ at auction.

It is the San Fransisco version, and i THINK its the BACH MEESE version. I have allready had two offers just from craigslist for only 12 hrs being listed, so I am hopeful!

Botanics bring $300-450, depending on crudity and color. The bottle lacks an applied top but is still a desireable western bottle. I wouldn't think that Craigs List would be a good place to sell quality glass, however you just never know. I was a member of the SR club for a number of years back in the '70s and early '80s.

My biggest complaint with Kovel's latest edition, is that they list too many bottle price's as " in the box,w/label & contents" So far I ain't dug me one of those critters yet

Dude,
I just went and put $100 bucks to get things started. You must have a pretty good reserve. I will wait and watch. It is one great bottle, one that would look good in my kitchen window. That one is a keeper. Good luck.

If you are hoping to get your $400 reserve it may help to post a few more photos on the auction. Maybe a close up of the small damage spot you described, a photo of the bottom, and a photo with light shining through it to show the color and clarity of the bottle. Its a lot of work but people dishing out big bucks for bottles like to get a good idea of what they are bidding on. Just an opinion.
