Hey Frank, That particular Garrett's bottle has a value of $10 to $15. There is a smaller one that sells for $20.

Frank:

My Dad picked up a Garrett & Co. wine bottle for me earlier this summer at a garage sale for a quarter.  I did some research at that time and found out that Garrett & Co. was the first wine company in the US and appeared to be worth the $10-15 range that Warren already indicated.  Mine is 12" tall and is embossed w/ Garrett & Co., Established in 1835.  It does not, however, have the Virginia Dare name on it.  (I am attempting to post a photo, although I have been unsuccessful in doing this in the past.)

There are several different Garrett's bottles from a half pint to a gallon. All of the are worth at least $10. Pretty good for a common clear glass wine bottle.

Hello frank,

Thanks for showing these bottles. I've seen the name "Virginia Dare" over the years and never known who she was, until you goosed me with this post. Here's two brief references: Virginia Dare "Croatan," eh?
