Is anyone familiar with wooden ships (spirits) bottles? I'm going through my uncles’ bottle collection and remember having been told years ago that's what this wooden bottle is, but have not found any info about them, other than a vague reference. This bottle is made of a hollowed-out single piece of wood (no slats). The bottom appears to be sealed with some sort of hardened cork-textured material that has remnants of a green felt material. The bottom of the bottle appears to have been encircled with a metal ring at one time, and appears to have been attached with screws. The lip of the bottle is encircled with a metal collar that has tool lines around the circumference, with a vertical indentation on either side, 180 degrees apart. The collar is attached with two slot-head screws, also 180 degrees apart, but separate from the vertical tool marks. Any information would be appreciated that would help me determine if this is a legitimate collectable, or merely a decoration. Thank You, mkbeggs
