This was my only find today from an old cellar hole. C.S. EMERSON'S/ AMERICAN HAIR/ RESTORATIVE/ CLEVELAND/ OHIO PRICE $1.00. This bottle is from around 1865-1870, and would have been a good one to find whole . I'll have to check around there some more. ~Jim

I also found the top, but that was it! I also got one other neck from the same era, but didn't find enough of it to make an ID. I know this one is junk, but I just couldn't let it lay there to get smashed into more pieces. ~Jim

Man, that is a heartbreaker if I ever saw one.  If I ever dig anything that old and that nice in one piece I'll probably pass out.

Thanks for the replies. It sure was a bummer, got a few cuss words out of me . I think this one just missed the pontil era, but there is a chance that it may have been an earlier pontiled example. Would have been nice to find the base! The only price listing I was able to find was Kovels 2002, which listed it at $193.

We're going to our oldest dump tomorrow, which is 1880-1900. Not quite as old as this heartbreaker, but at least there are some whole bottles to be found . ~Jim
