Found a GREAT (at least to me it is) area today on a walk in the field. Went further then I've been before and ended up on this man's property (didnt know it was owned when I got there) and a while later he came up with his dogs and asked what I was doing, told him I was collecting bottles and he told me that the more I hauled out the better, lol. So I found 45 bottles on the surface or just below it. I didnt want to dig it up because the man left before I could ask. I got a bunch of stuff I've never found before. Here are the pictures.

I'm in Pueblo so the southern part of colorado. Even if you tell me about the ghost towns I couldnt get there. I'm limited when it comes to driving. At least for now since I dont have my license yet. If you know of any that are really close then please share!

Hey there. Looks like you are in a solid 1940's dump. When i first started digging bottles these were exactly the types of bottles that i would dig and they would always make my day, as i am sure that they too are making you happy. Looks like there are a couple of older bottles mixed in with this bunch. In the first picture, middle row, second bottle from the right looks like an older unembossed pharmacy from the 20's. The best bottle though is in your last picture on the far right. It is embossed (with what?) and has an older top. Good luck digging and keep looking for the older bottles like the ones i mentioned.

Pueblo is a good place to look for older stuff. Check out some historical maps and such and when you get your licence and some digging experance. I will send you an email with two locations.

The last picture on the far right is the small square bottle and it says "Gouraud's Oriental Cream" on the front and on one side it says "New York" and on the other side it says "London" and on the front near the neck on the shoulder? (I'm not very good with bottle anatomy) it says "Trial size"

Historical maps of Pueblo? Or the area around it because I've tried and found that there isnt anything useful on google that I can see. I could try the library but I probably wouldnt be able to check out any of the books with maps worth looking at. Ah well I'll try the next time I'm there anyway. Thanks for helping.

The one with the guy holding wheat is called Old Quaker. It's a brand of whiskey. The federal law prohibits... on the shoulder means that it is 1940's or newer. You should ask the guy about digging, there may be some older stuff just below the surface. Chris

The unembossed pharmacy bottle that BRichardson noted appears to have a hand-tooled top! Check that one for the mold seam, and as i'm sure you know it should terminate before the top of the lip. If so then it may be close to 10 years older than the first estimate. If it is indeed handmade, then you should go to the spot where it came from and do a little more digging, because although the dump doesn't seem ancient, the old stuff like that may still be hidden below!

Nice sample size oriental cream, those little embossed bottles are fun, because amongst other reasons you can have 10 of em displayed in the space a big jar would take up. G'luck

hi krystal
yep you were right my name is mike .if your finding that stuff right on the surface there has got to be older bottles just below .they usualy used the same dumps for many years the older bottles may be just in a different spots close to where you are looking.dating shards will help you locate the older areas too .the two that are not threaded are only 15-20 years away from being the right age of your local embossed meds .good luck digging

I went back to that same place today and found 12 more bottles. I didnt find the guy who owns that part of the field so I couldnt ask about digging. Two of these bottles appear to have had a cork in them at one time. Four of them have embossing on them. I probably wont go back to that place for a while. Gonna go check out a ravine tomorrow that is said to be full of bottles. I'll post my findings if there are any.
