These look bad but they are cleanable. Check out the next two pics they are the same two after a good cleaning . Don't cast off the  rough ACL's too soon.

Much better also don't chunck them too soon if not flaking they can be saved. bob

Barkeepers friend mixed with baking soda into a paste. And put on with a super soft brush . Then washed in soapy water and rinsed rinsed rinsed then air dried. Be careful with it it will destroy a label if not done right (What I mean is it will take it off or fade it )  BOB

Has anyone ever tried auto polishing compound rubbed over the label gently with a finger , that is how I have cleaned a good many of them with positive results . Of course if the label is chalky , it will not do it any good . And I do mean polishing compound , not rubbing compound , it is too coarse in my opinion .

The only thing I ever use is baking soda mixed with water to make a paste. Works great and doesn't damage lables. It works well on chalky lables too but you have to take it slow and easy, use a very soft clean cloth or your finger tip on bad areas.
