Yesterday was a great day for me at the local flea market! I found a clear panelled twisted pontilled decanter with the initials U.S.Q.M.C. on the shoulder (United States Quarter Master Corps?), black amber Geo. W. Hoxsie`s Premium Beer from the Westford, CT glassworks, a six sided large cruet type bottle with a twisted off pontil, and a really crude teal demijohn with a pet mouse in it. I like glass from the Westford and Willington glassworks as they are close to my stomping grounds, and I`ve been after a Westford Hoxsie beer for a long time, and I finally found an affordable one! There are still good finds to be had out there, you just have to get out and look!

Here`s a picture of the beer, not too fancy but a nice one anyways!

Here`s a picture of the really crude lip on the demijohn. It looks like they used the slag off of the top of the crucible to form the lip with. It had the remains of wicker on the bottle, but with the looks of that lip, I had to see what the bottle looked like. Thankfully the wicker was in rough shape so it didn`t hurt my conscience to remove it. Now I just need to remove the mouse from the bottom of it somehow!

No, he isn`t. He found out long ago that it`s much easier to get into a bottle than it is to get out of one. I just hope he`ll fit through the neck.

Its so ironic that you found a dead mouse inside that demijon, because last year I bought a demi about the same size as yours in aqua and there was a dead mouse in that one too!

That lip makes me wonder what kind of a personality the guy had that applied it. It is awesome.
