ya, variations of that have been around for some time.  Its best to log into ebay first to answer any email questions from bidders that way you are pretty safe.

I have gotten alot of different emails from schmucks trying to get into different accounts or demanding payment for some mystical item that I never bid on. If it is not from some one I am doing business with I just delete ebay messages. Since the beginning of ebay they have never once sent me an email about anything.

Definitely a phishing expedition. I just got a similar one from some joker who claimed to have an item that I had a Want It Now ad up for. It was from a hijacked account, as the user with that ID had no such item for sale, and the link said something about "eBay item #", but was not connected to eBay. The p*ss-poor English they used was also a telltale sign.~Jim

Over the past year I have been getting some weird pfishing Ebay emails, they all say congratulations your a power seller! Then they try to get you to log onto their bogus link and type in your Ebay name and password. Anyone get any of these?
Regards Vic

The "second-chance-offer" scams seem to be popular now. I have had several people email me telling me they got second chance offers on high dollar items I already sold and shipped. I had to put a notice in my auctions saying I never send second chance offers Some people just will never try to make an honest living.

Yeah, Vic...

I got one and bit... Got locked out of ebay and had to change my email address and password... Someone used my id to put up some Superbowl tickets (undoubtably phantom) for auction... It was a temporary pain in the butt...

Ron

If the tickets are still for sale Ron I'd love a pair, name your price.

Any authentic emails from eBay or Paypal will have your real name ( registered name), at the top of the email...Otherwise, it's a scam.

Be careful because I have had a few scam emails with my real name.  A person's name isnt too hard to get. Never log in from a link on an email , always go to ebay, paypal , or the official site to log in.

Lobeycat, I do the same exact thing but most of the time I get a little bit more worked up and write a sentence that looks like this, $#&#%$)!(*#&^#@*#%^#&@)!%*^! It’s great because I know the scammer is going to read it.

If anyone has any doubt whether or not an email is a scam, just type in a random name and a random password. If it’s a fake link it will accept it. The only sure way around an email is to type  eBay.com in your address bar and check your messages thorough there. If the suspicious email is not in there then it is a fake.
