The top looks like Bakelite so 20's or 30's is my guess.

I say your guess was closer Dan. mid 40's 50's could even be early 60's with that cap.

Hi Dan, I think you and Lobey are right on. The few newer pharmacy bottles in my local collection that are similar to that one are 40s-50s. One actually has a 1949 date on the prescription label. Machine-made cork-tops were still popular with druggists around here in the middle 30s. The metal screw caps started to take over in the 30s, then came the black plastic ones in the 40s. ~Jim

Try the pin test. Heat it up to about red hot and press into the cap. If it melts it's plastic, if not it's bakelite.

Run the cap under hot tap water until it's heated well, then dry off. Rub it with your thumb to create friction then smell it.  Bakelite has a very distinct and slightly pungent smell.  My sister in law collects Bakelite jewelry and taught me this.

I'd probably go with the 40 to 50's.  I had the misfortune of having a ringworm in one of my feet as a child.  The medicine was in an amber bottle with a lever lid that sprayed out a chemical that froze on contact with the skin. Very painful application, but necessary to kill that little bugger that traveled under the skin at night and itched like crazy.  But back in the day , all the kids were barefooted all summer long and only wore shoes to church or school.  So getting ringworms in your feet was part of childhood.  Another home remedy was green walnuts rubbed on the feet. (this turned your feet dark green and didn't wash off.).

When ya got ring worm down here in the boonies your mother would drag you out to the fig tree, tear a leaf in half and rub the milk from it on the ring worm and tell ya to stay the hell away from them nasty cats. This cure works over night.

I'd say 40s and 50s.
