First is a pair of early blown Pittsburgh pieces. A 20 rib pattern molded Cruet with applied hollow handle its a clear pale amethystine color. The pitcher is a classic Pittsburgh pillar molded piece with applied solid ribbed handle. in a clear greyish flint glass. I bought these even though its not what I collect just because they where such beautiful pieces of early glass.

I also picked up this attic mint Davis & Miller's American Worm Syrup A Certain Remedy For Worms. This is a very had to find Baltimore pontiled medicine. I have been chasing a perfect example for years. And this one has perfect bold embossing and is just a top example that would be hard to improve on.

That is a great estate auction! The pitchers are very nice and the bottle looks like it was made and then tucked away in a safe place until now.

That is what should be pictured in Webster's if someone looked up "Antique bottles" ! Nicest I've seen, congrats on finding such a great bottle. It's got it all going for it.

Its funny the davis and miller had a small unreadable hand written label and was mostly full of what smelled like powered oregano. Not its original contents but someone sure treasured this bottle for there spices. And now i will treasure it for many years to come.

Chris

Chris nice finds,it is a good feeling when you can find something you have been looking for for quite a while and itis mint condition.I am mailing my bottles to you tommorrow for the repairs, take your time no rush.I was away in Canada a week ago and had a lot going on at work this past week and bottles just crept back into my life this past weekend with a couple of posts here at the forum.

The pitcher and cruet are very nice also. Am I seeing the begining stages of a slight change in your collection direction to more refined glass? This is how it started for me you, get one of these home the wife likes them more then bottles, you then realize most of these were well cared for and kept in families for long times as this was the only glass being collected by people in the early 1800s......................the historical connections to the early glass works, and like Emeril Lagasse says............................. BAM your hooked. I expect to be seeing more of this kind of glass from you in the coming months.

Chris,

That Davis & Miller is what antique bottles are meant to be whittled, wavy and extremely crude and perfect in every way! I love crude old pontiled cures especially! Think I need a bib! WTG Great FIND!  Lorne

Great pieces, Chris. Some serious work went into making the mold for that bottle back in the day. I have never seen that particular Davis & Miller bottle, and have never seen a pontiled medicine so absolutely loaded with embossing.  ~Jim

It's the only pontiled Davis & Miller that does not have Baltimore embossed on it. Probably because they ran out of room on the bottle. I have only seen about 5 of these and this one is the best example of all of them. I'm super happy to have it.... Now if the power company ever comes and fixes my power I can see it again lol.....

Chris
