elephant shaped flask/bottle.6 inches tall. light cobalt. cup mold base. fire polished lip. seam ends below the lip, stretch marks on finish. air bubbles. is this an old bottle or a reproduction ? there are no markers. I'm new to bottle collecting, how can I tell if this is really old? thanks- Eric

Yup, repro but I can't remember what was in them. Usualy they're amber so the blue might be a selling point' I've also seen a lot of them with fluted lips.

Digger O Dell's site mentions a Clevenger Brothers elepant in blue, amber, amethyst and green.
Not sure I'd call it a repro since I dont know of an original piece. More of an art or fantasy item.

Matts right, I use the term repro loosly. Maybe fake, whimsey, art etc. but not a 1800's bottle. If it's Clevenger could be 1930's or later which now still seems old.

It could still sell pretty well. Some of the early Clevenger bottles seem to be pretty collectible.
