this found me a few days ago well I was trying to dig in frozen dirt... I think it is kind of neat.... give me something else to research over the wither... and now I have a lamp for when the digs get deep... it is in kind of rough shape though, maybe I should retro fit it with LEDs and a battery

Ben,

Some of those lamps can be worth some cash, if you plan to sell, and like most collectibles, the serious collector wants it in an as found condition. Cleaning it can reduce its value.
I picked up a lamp similar to yours last summer and did some research on it and found out it was worth a few bucks. I left it as is and will soon sell it. Do some research online and you might be suprised, some lamps are quite rare.
Merry Christmas

Mark

Minors lamps are quite common . I used to sell them for fifteen bucks , and that was in shiny good condition . On eBay they bring around ten to fifteen bucks these days unless it is something quite different about it . I see them listed on eBay for twenty bucks , but they seldom ever get a bid .

When I was a youngster , I had a lantern size carbide lamp . Me and a friend would camp out on a lake and night fish with it . It did not put off a whole lot of light , but it sure did put off a smell as well as a gargling sound lol . Ah yes , the good old days .
