Back again to the Scout cabin dump I unearthed some type of stoneware.  I knew it couldn't possibly be whole since this dump is 90% slate rocks.  I hesitated to take this dig pic cuz usualy that's the kiss of death leading to something being broke for sure or it turning out to be a 60's Kentucky fried chicken bucket or something!  Nope, just a chamber pot, but at least it was whole.

Also found this little broke Washington Bicentenial cup.  Clearly a 30's/40's dump but the late throws and oodball stuff keep me coming back for more.

Yeah Ry your probably right on that, all I know is it wasn't a flower pot since there's no hole.  What kind of stuff would they use a crock like this for?

Hard to say, safest bet would be to call it a multipurpose crock. Its most likly glazed on the inside to hold liquid. Take care buddie

I looked up your crock in a stoneware book I have, found about 4 examples of this shape and style and it is referred to as a milk crock.  I can't tell you much more other than it seems to date to the 1870's.  Nice find, it's hard to find decent stoneware.  I'd  try researching milk crocks.
