I live in the country and have found a few bottles. but nothing that has any age on it i know that there is alot of old homesites around ,but they are not standing just a bunch of old stone foundations the areas have been logged so it is extremely hard to find the privies. i got a probe but have not yet found a privy i was wondering if yall could give me some tips on locating these privys i live real close to a historical area and know that there is bottles around any info would be appreciated

STONES AROUND TREES WOULD HAVE BEEN PICKED OUT OF THE FIELDS THAT WERE FARMED. WHEN IT CAME UP WITH THE PLOW IT WAS PICKED UP AND PUT BY THE TREE SO IT WOULD NOT BE HIT AGAIN. CISTERNS ARE USUALLY ROUND,CLOSE TO A HOUSE OR BARN. THEY COLLECTED WATER FOR FIRE PROTECTION. IF I FOUND AN AREA WITH A LOT OF FILL LIKE STONE CINDER ECT. I THINK I WOULD DIG A TEST HOLE 2 FEET SQ. AND 3-4 FEET DEEP TO SEE WHAT CAME UP.
