I don't normally sift dirt piles after digging for bottles, but a guy I know found a pricey piece of jewelry from some dump piles in San Francisco about two weeks ago.....so that alerted me to bring my sieve screen along this time. After spending about 1 1/2 hrs digging and only finding a couple of carter's inks from the 1890's I sifted the dirt that I just piled up and found a couple of things that I would have missed otherwise. There was a political charm for U.S President Benjamin Harrison(1889-1893) that was cool to find. I also found a lot of china marbles by sifting as well. When there is not a lot of bottles......screening dirt can produce some goodies. I'm hoping to find some saloon tokens or coins the next time I go back. Doug
