Hello, I am trying to find out if this is a good bottle or not.  I got this with a bitters bottle from a family so I know it is old.  It is not pontilled but I would say before 1900.  The pattern is on the inside of the bottle/decanter.  Please let me know what its name is, rarity and possible value if anybody knows it.

Thanks for the help,

Stephen

Good morning Stephen,I see too many of these on ebay to consider them rare. They come in all sorts of colors from blood red to cobalt blue to green like yours to amber yellow ect.My guess would be on these fairly modern manufactured in the Czech Republic or possibly Mexico. They are a poor imitation copy of the early Ohio flasks which have a longer neck rough pontil scar. Here are some examples currently on ebay.

Note the description in the second link just like yours, Reverse inside pattern

I always figured them to be Clevenger bottles, 1930s or 40s.

I too believe these to be Clevenger made.  In any case, they are not "period."

It's some kind of Stiegel repro, but I don't know who the maker is...
Not Mexican...maybe not Clevenger.
The shape is like the Clevenger external pattern flasks...additionally, their internal pattern flasks are more squatty with stubby necks & larger mouths

Good morning. Your "cross-hatched" bottle is one made at Clevenger Brothers using checken wire to achieve the design. (They rolled the gather of glass over the chicken wire before putting it in the mold.) Your bottle dates circa late 1940s -early 1950s. Earlier versions of this bottle were made using wooden molds. An iron mold was used for yours. You might check for the presence of four different size circles on the surface of one side of the bottle, located between two and three inches from the base. These circles would definitely identify it as being made in a specific Clevenger iron shape mold that was sold at the auction of Clevenger molds and tools in June 2009.
