I think all of the Kline's I have dug in the past had the solid "bridge" You can see this one has the gap. This came out of a pontil/hingemold pit,  but the first foot of fill was mostly 1900 stuff.
Just curious, mostly.

All I can tell you is the USE PIN or USE A PIN had a patent of Oct 27, 1863 and should be on it I would think (RB10). We all know the dates could be much later for manufacture though.
