here's a closeup of the embossing.

siegfried was a prolific bottler in his time.

we found another pony blob with the one above, but the embossing read ~ Wm. Rader.

i should have said that the siegfried FAMILY were prolific bottlers............

i don't know the exact lineage, but more than one family member and/or generation was in the business.

this one is another smooth based T. Siegfried

Nice bottles, Jim. I love local squats, there are only two from my town, but I'm always hoping to discover another one. It has happened once already.  ~Jim

Buzz,
I love those Walnut Port bottles. Have another one lying around you don't want??

Aside from the Siegfried and a couple milks, do you know if there are any other bottles from Walnutport?

I used to dig dumps quite a bit but never a privy. The problem I have now is time...between working 60 hours a week and helping with the kids...and the fact that since I'm still relatively new to the area I don't have any spots to dig. If you ever need help let me know. If I can break away for a while I'd love to see how it's done!

Thanks for the info on the Walnutport bottles. I'm still learning about what's out there from Weissport to Walnutport. Small area but a lot of bottles! The oldest area of Palmerton used to be called Millport. Have you ever seen a bottle embossed Millport?
Tim

Here's another example from E. Chunk.  It's a "Ph. Rader".

hi Aaron,

the unusual part of this bottles story is that it wasn't more than 2 feet down and not even in a privy. someone must have cleaned out their basement or something in the mid to late 1800's. found a bunch of hinge mold and pontiled meds and older smooth base and graphite sodas in the fill of an old stone lined well. we found parts of a good sized wagon as we dug down.
