at the Goodwill, I found a figural bottle much like the one in the link. (sorry I don't have a picture yet.) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Liquor-Decanter-Metaxa-Man-/370551564200?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56469827a8

it's the same size and colors the "Mexata man' except it also says:
90 proof OUZO " a great dry aperitif" 1 PT 7floz. on the front, with the paper label on the back that says: Metaxa ouzo
a Greek dry aperitif
product of Greece
1 pt. 7 Ozs. 90 proof
produced by and bottled by S.&E&A. Metaxa S.a. Piraeus/Greece
sole distributors for S.A.
Austin Nichols &Co.  Inc. New York
it's got the original plastic topped cork
the paint is in good condition, some very small fades and all of the bottons are intact any info on value or the history of ths bottle?

"Ceramic advertising figural bottle, in the form of a Greek dancer in traditional costume, for 'Metaxa' Ouzo, made by Coronetti Lunardo
Italy, circa 1960, 40 cm high, 15 cm wide, 15 cm deep" From.

Hey Jim,

I remember seeing these on shelves. They might have been gathering dust on a shelf with These Guys at that little joint in Greektown with the good spanakopita. In my opinion they are a very "touristy" type item, not my glass of Retsina at all.

If you like it, and could get for a song, I'm sure the Goodwill guys would be pleased.
