It's got that "Mexican" color going. I don't see anything for base wear. The lip is wrong.
On those things (without holding it) I would say "Memorex."
A super nice looking piece, that I would certainly display.
Where did you come up with it? That makes a big diff, too, if it was unearthed.

im sure it is a reproduction of some sort, but have yet to have figured out who made it, i have the same one is emerald green, its not clevenger because the clevenger repro of this flask isnt pontiled, and its too big and heavy for MMA so i dont know who did it

Not quite a reproduction (in that there are no flasks of the period made in this pattern) but rather a modern fantasy flask...

There were some similar bottles in ABF. Refer to page 360 for instance. Also some Czech bottles from the 30's are known. I have seen these with the +'s that are called midwestern on the bay but I doubt it.

Good evening Eric.  It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.  In rereading my post it now seems clear that I should have stated that flasks of this type were not made in the FIRST period of production (said from an American's standpoint but it holds true for other, earlier European flasks) because you are correct in stating that the Czechs made flasks of this general type in the 30s, which some folks might now consider to be "early."  The flasks you reference on page 360 in McKearin's ABF were blown in dip or pieced molds and expanded to size (hence the variation in the size and shape of the diamonds) while the piece in question certainly appears to have been blown in a full sized two-piece mold (an assumption made based upon the uniformity of the design).  Usage of full-sized two-piece molds in the production of "pattern molded" flasks is not known until the the early Twentieth century, when the value of "Stiegel" flasks was such that the fakers found a ready market for their wares.  I am not knowledgeable enough to say if the piece in question is a 30s Czech flask or a later object yet but I can say with relative certainty that is is not a flask of the nineteeth century.

I have this exact same flask (see pic). I agree that it's a modern "fantasy flask". I got it from an antique dealer in Massachusetts for whom I was listing it on ebay. When it didn't sell he just told me to keep it. He thought it was Clevenger, but I don't know. All I can say is nobody wanted to give us 9.99 for it, so now I put pennies in it :)

Did Clevenger make any of their own styles or just replicas of previous types? It looks to me like these were made by two different places. Is their any wear on the base. If it's early it would have strong wear most likely.

Mine has no neck seam either, I agree with the list folks that these are probably Clevenger. Tom Haughton would know but I don't have his contact information any more.

I keep seeing these show up on eBay...In some instances they are called "poison flasks"...
Some are pontilled, some are smooth base...
Believe this one discussed here is a Clevenger Bros example...as is Spence's green one.

For what it's worth: I have.
Probably an early Clevenger and as time progressed and demand increased they stopped pontilling the flasks...much as many glass makers did . The Clevengers also tended to slightly flare the mouths on their flasks and the straighter necks were also a sign of more "hurried" methods.
Later: they began making the ruffled mouths and adding pontils that differ from their earlier glass pieces...
JMHO...but maybe I can get Tom Haunton to voice his opinion.

Some of Clevenger's early Washington/Taylor flasks have the flared mouth seen in this flask...later examples have a sheared mouth with a  straight neck,  and in some cases - the mouth wasn't even tooled smooth but  merely ground and left rough.
As they progressed to a more "art glass" form to attract a larger market,  the ruffled mouths and added pontils became part of their glass making  catalog, as did more colors and a greater assortment of bottles, flasks, vases, decanters, etc.

When the auction ends can you post the link? I'd like to see what the seller says.
