Hi all, I found this really neat glass vase at an old house foundation that was built in 1826. I went out there to metal detect because they had just bulldozed up a lot of the dirt. I had been walking around the place for about an hour and then I saw the bottom of it sticking out of the dirt. I went over to it and pulled it out of the dirt, and it was whole!. After I cleaned it I just used it to put candy in. It has at least 4 seperate mold seams, and no words on the bottom of it. Does anyone know how old this vase is, or how much it might be worth? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks--Justin

Really nice find! I'm thinking that rather than being a vase, it might be a lamp base for a kerosene or other type of oil lamp, because of its wide and apparently reinforced lip, which would hold the burner, and what looks like a heavy base, that a lamp would have to keep it from tipping. Did you find any interesting metal stuff? Any old lamp parts around?

May have been an old Kersosene Lamp. Also looks like a Apothecary Jar without the top/
Beleive this type was a show jar (might even have contained candy).
Hard to determine age unless it sun colored, Have seen many repo's
