I suspect Lobey is correct. It seems modern.
Usually a ground lip like that meant there was some metal rim attached. I'm guessing it was part of something like a lamp or other decorative item. If someone has other theories I'd like to hear them. No ideas are too weird

It looks like some of that decorator crap from the 90s that came from World Bizzar.

Well whatever it is someone bought it. I'm betting they make it into a lamp.
I was thinking it would make a neat porch light.

They used to show up at bottle shows when I was collecting in the 1960's. They come in several colors with aqua as the most common.. I always considered them to be vases. The flat back allows display on a narrow shelf.

I have no idea what their actual purpose was if any.I have seen them in yellow, aqua, blue & purple.I don't think they are terribly old and looks like something that could have been made for a museum gift shop.

its a candle lamp.  The usually have holes in the back for hanging on the wall.  They as mentioned come in a lot of colors but mostly amber and aqua, and if I remember correctly were made in the 20's...  I havnt seen one without a factory made hole in it for hanging though, so that is a little strange...

I had one and showed it to Jim Hagenbuch from Glassworks auctions at the shuppes grove show. He stated they were modern and made for decoration. I can't recall what decade he refered to but they are not old and not in the antique glass catagory. The one I had was crude as hell!!! With a modern looking base?? It also had a hole in the back and puzzled me to death for awhile because nobody knew nothing about it.

They're also pretty common, at least in New England. I've seen at least 5 of them in antique stores for 40-50 bucks, all aqua. None of them had holes in the back though, although I may have missed that because I pretty much dismissed them as modern and didn't look too carefully.
