Usually a ground lip like that meant there was some metal rim attached. I'm guessing it was part of something like a lamp or other decorative item. If someone has other theories I'd like to hear them. Status: offline I had one and showed it to Jim Hagenbuch from Glassworks auctions at the shuppes grove show. He stated they were modern and made for decoration. I can't recall what decade he refered to but they are not old and not in the antique glass catagory. The one I had was crude as hell!!! With a modern looking base??
