Everyone has been great with my inexperienced questions. I hope you can help with this one. I have a 2qt, clear/grey ligtning beaded neck seal jar. The only marking is on the heel. It has a small 1/2 inch rectangle with a diagonal line running through it. in the upper portion is a P, and the lower portion a C. Next to the rectangle is a small 3. There are no other markings. It is heavy with some waves to the glass. No bubbles. The wire bail is intact but rusty. There is normal wear on the jar. The lid is clear with no markings, but it has a few bubbles. It was purchased at a flea market. Did I find a keeper, or just another addition to my small humble collection. Any help would be appreciated.

Your jar is probably a packer jar made by the Pacific Coast Glass Co., San Francisco CA.  Circa 1919-1929.  Other fruit jars made by this company include the Double Seal and Double Seal Mason, also marked with the P C in broken rectangle.  Maybe your jar isn't worth big bucks, but it does at least have some history.  -Tammy

Packer jars are any jars used for commercial purposes, anything from coffee to pickled pigs feet to bug killer.  Normally, they would come with an identifying label.  Your unmarked jar is probably worth a buck or two.... if the label was still intact on it, it would likely be worth more. -Tammy
