I looked up the Crown Brewery, Cincinatti, in my Ohio Bottle book and it is oddly listed as "Incomplete". This usually means that is scarce enough to not know anything about it. It may be a good bottle!

Zane, there are two books, volumes 1 and 2, by Timothy J. Holian, Called "Over the Barrel".  Both cover the brewing history of Cincinnati.  Volume 1 covers the years 1800 to 1920.  If you can get a hold of the book, or find someone who has it, there might be some good info on the Crown Brewery.

Rick

I do not believe the Crown Brewery is uncommon at all, I have seen many of them over the years, unless I am thinking of something else. The ones I have seen have always been crown tops. Pretty sure I am correct. But who knows, my WIFE tells me I am never right about anything...................

With all due deference to Lou, I agree with Zane.  I spent quite awhile searching for info on the Crown Brewing Co. when I dug that bottle but couldn't find much.  However, given the fact the WW never paid for them and no one else showed much interest in the auction, I guess LC might have a point.  Who knows, after the srping thaw I might dig another six pack of them.

Are the Crowns you have crown top bottles Jim ? Like I stated, I have only seen them in crown tops. I never did try and do any research on this brewery, but it was told to me once that this brewery was in bussiness for only a few years in the early 1900s. It is one of the crown top beers from Cincinnati I have seen the least of as for crown tops beers, but never did see them bring any kind on money to amount to anything, at least not in this area. I think the last one I saw go of on ebay was seven or eight dollars. I have also seen them go off on ebay without receiving a bid as all.  Not at all trying to run this bottle down either, just trying to give my opinion as to what I know of it

The Ohio Bottle Book does not list crown tops.Somebody probably seen a directory listing old enough to be bottling in blobs, hence the incomplete.I have seen a good number of the those crown brewery crown tops. They are probably worth a buck or so in dug condition.

I had a guy tell me they're a dime a dozen in "da Natti", I've found them here.

With the picture I gotta believe that you're right - they must be more common than I thought.  I still can't seem to locate any pictures on line.  Thanks for the info - Jim

Common or not Jim, it is still a nicely embossed bottle. Another piece of history from old Cincy.
