pick this up at a fleamarket yesterday and I am sure some one on here could help me identify what it is. Color is a very dark purple, has some air bubbles in it also. Bottom has no markings on it, and the flask says "success to the railroad". The seam does not go up to the top of the lip either../

it's a Clevenger Bros Glass works reproduction. Looks like an early one. Any initials upon it..ie.."CB" ??

If I read right the original versions of this bottle (Lancaster? and Keene? and others?) made in the 1800s bring hundreds and superior examples can bring tens of thousands.

whiskeyman, what makes you say an 'early one'? Is it that the embossing is good from a mold that hasn't made zillions of bottles yet? (Just trying to learn)

looked it over and there are no makings that identify it as  Clevenger Bros. I looked it up and agree that is what it is.

Cubby...you mess with reproes long enough and after a while some things become apparent about their appearance..
In the below pic which I had also posted on the Clevenger Bros repro thread you can see the far right flask has more clarity than the other 2 flasks. It is also pontilled and paper labeled, indicating it was a more "recent" version of the flask and it had a large CB on the base. The other 2 have smooth bases and textured surfaces, and no CB...indicating earlier made.
