Joel, Found the following at

http://www.bottlebooks.com/bottlesforsale/Bottles4sale.htm

BOTTLES FOR SALE   From Digger Odell

Unusual and very rare ink.  Listed in Covill's Inks #713.  I'd call it the hot dog ink.  5 1/4" inches long.  Try to find another.  Clean specimen, excellent condition.  $90.00

Nope Cap,,,  no hazing no the inside!!

LC - That is the one and I guess I owe Ron (R0R) an apology as it was referred to as a hot dog ink, by Digger. Then again, Digger doesn't always know what he is talking about either.

Yep, Marjorie is right and so is Ron and Digger.
Banana Ink (not as rare as you might think) also known as a hot dog ink in this particular style. It comes in a couple diffent shapes, all being oblongated and cylindrical, with flat bottoms and upcurved mouths (Cap and Wayne, behave yourselves).

It is a nice piece and obviously, we don't see many of them. I have seen a few around in different shapes and sizes and usually behind glass.

Now we know we know more, eh?

hotdogs being around in the 1800's. I thought they came in about the same time as baseball.

And, Mr. Joel... Just when do you think baseball came on the scene...Not the 1950's, surely...

I've seen this bottle in ink collections and there's currently one on ebay .....they call it a "banana ink"

Hey Marjorie,

Digger says they are rare but I noticed the one you found on Ebay only went for $9.97 or some low price like that.

How true, Ep
I think the variability is one element that makes bottle collecting more exciting!
I thought about making a bid on that ink......but don't feel I know enough yet....or maybe I'm thinking if/when I make that first purchase, I will have truly taken the plunge!! Digging the bottles seems to be most satisfying!
