Most of my furniture, like the table belong to members of my family, friends, and old girl friends. I used Mortise and Tenon Joinery and also got fairly proficient at hand dovetailing. It was always a goal of mine to Make furniture for a lving but I could never seem to get the money out of my pieces for the time spent.   I used a friend of mine's Conover Lathe to turn the legs and also made a few Tiger Maple rolling pins and potato mashers. They were a big hit and I had to buy a masher back so I'd have one.   I've always believed that Design and symetry are the most important keys to building a fine piece. I take pride in the replica I produced and as far as I know every piece I made is still being used(no returns).   Lobey you definitely have the eye for design. Did you go off of prints or design those pieces yourself? I'd like to see a few more pieces of your work if possible and I'll try to get a few photos on here for your opinion.   this is one of my first pieces. I used no hinges except two round ears on the lid running through the side like a blanket box till. It took me a while to learn how to dovetail. you should have seen my practice pieces. This a small dovetailed box made of Bird's Eye Maple. I used analine dyes and shellac on it. I never found it easy to get any fair price out of a good piece of furniture or cabinetry. I actually had People that would say to  me at times that I could not count my time for making it ??  I would say to them,, DO YOU WORK FOR NOTHING, and they would say back to me,, WELL, THAT IS DIFFERENT. Never could grasp the mind set. I only make things I want to now, whether it be furniture, or something plain outrageous, such as the project I am working on at present. Three feet seven inches in closed position. I figure everyone needs to own at least one wood straight razor.......... I know I do ! Here it is Spencer, finally got my other computer back, and again, am able to take pictures finally. I still need to engrave the blade yet, and possibly the bolsters,  thinking towards KEEN KUTTER, once I get that done, I will put a clear finish on it. I think it would retail for $1500 or better in the right market. I build things to last for a century or more. I think between my designs and the craftsmanship I should have made a decent living but some things aren't meant to be. Do you have any other pieces you can post for us? Bummer ! Would not be so bad if a person could still retain the email thet typed up, and be able to send it later.     I do not have a anything  here in the way of furniture of any kind, most everything I have made , I gave to my two Sons and their Wives as gifts at one time or another.
