The best of luck guys! It's good to see you two digging together, even though it's thirty feet apart.

BTW - Those aren't actually poisons.

Thats crazy.  Glad you are finally finding some good stuff.  That mug is awesome!  It would be a shame to dig that far and find nothing worth the work put in.

I'm going to be filling it in in a few hours and couldn't sleep so I thought I'd update this post.

Here are a few things found and kept. The Prr lantern globe being the best find other than the mug. It measures 5 5/8"

and a table full of unwashed common stuff but still worth keeping.

Including a Lash's Bitters. I know it's a common bottle but it's also my wife's maiden name.

Great Finds Zane.  Lash Bitters common!!!!  I can't rember the last time I dug a bitters , common or any kind. Keep up the good work.  At least I can see what one looks like. If you clean it up and post a pic, that is.

The rest of the story...

I stopped the dig at 35 feet and also probed five feet deeper. I was hearing too many horror stories about "Black-Damp" and Stone giving way to continue. My brother-in-law ( not to be confused with my brother Craig) who started the hole with me also helped me fill it back in. I put in 26 fillers (haha). The yard is now safe again!
I plan on starting the privy tomorrow after work. I have high hopes for it too. It was a high class home that was very close to a doctor that had  Pontiled Bottles from Steubenville.
I'll post a few photos of the bottles cleaned up later.

Yea man 35 feet is freaking skerry, but when your finding bottles you don't think about it, even so, that's some major depth, if I get real deep ones witch i don't that often around here I get my buddy Tommy to come up with his skid loader and push that fill back in, saves my  aging back haha, I never herd the term (black damp) I herd of black death, what neck of the woods did that term come from?Rick

I think, correct me if I'm wrong, that "Black-Damp" is a lack of oxygen deep in the hole.
