You said the magic word. PARK If you have a park in your back yard, you probably have a dump there too.  Good luck, looks like fun.

Dug this bottle in Cincinnati in the 70s. Bottle is  around six , six and a half inches tall. Yes Folks, another sorry picture. You can see the bottom though, and the rest of the bottle looks pretty much the same, only no white. It is a dark amber, light does not reflect through it. I believe it is a beer bottle, regretfully, there is no embossing other than the H. G. Co. on the bottom. Is this bottle a beer or something else ??

Is it embossed HGCO on the base?

It is HGCO as you suspected.  Thanks again for your expert response.

The previous residents obviously liked their beer.  I have found many of these "Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. Cinti. O." bottles, which I understand are quite common.

When digging in Cincy years ago, I never once dug a Christian Moerlein Brewing Bolb top, have seen a truck load of the crown tops over the years though.

Man I could not sleep at night if I had a back yard like that. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Do the milk glass medicines have any embossing?   Thanks, Marvin

I'd love to see some close-ups of the marbles and other non-bottle finds.

You lucky dog!

I'll take some tomorrow, Zane.  I found some more stuff today but did not have my camera with me.  I only brought one piece with me.

Wow.  I'm surprised, LC.  I thought they were kind of common since I found so many - only four that are totally intact.  Here is another that I dug today that looks interesting.  Is it old?

LC, I assume this is what you are refering to as a "crown top"?  This one is even made by Crown brewery and has a crown on it!

Marvin, I sleep great after a few hours digging.  I think it will be a let down when I get the last bottle dug.  Half the fun is wondering what else is in there and gleaning what you folks know about the finds.  There sure are a lot of experts on this site.

Hello Jim,this bottle looks interesting, I see you are still being  blessed by the bottle Gods. I can not imagine being able to go out into ones own back yard and be able to dig this era of bottles. When I win my millions, I am going to buy up a lot of houses in certain parts of Cincinnati ! I can not read the name or where it is from, my eyesight is not the best. I like any bottle with graphics on it though, one of my weaknesses ! My guess as to age is late 1880s to 1900. I can not say for sure that is correct. As for the blob top Morleins, I never did find one of that variety in any of the digging I did in Cincinnati years ago, of course that doesn't mean they are rare. Regretfully, I did not get into but a few dumps here and there when I dug there. That is a Brewery of Cincy, so it would seem there should be plenty of them around, whether or not I found any or not. Now that you are hooked on this great hobby, as time goes on, I am sure you will eventually find other collectors and diggers in the Cincinnati area, and they will be able to give you better input on that particular bottle. Stay with that dump, as well as find the privy or privies ! Best of luck, Lou

"Sannitol" on one side, "For the Teeth" on the other.  I have dug six intact and another 4 or five broken, so they must be pretty common.

I've dug a lot of medicines but never dug a milk glass one. They must not be common in my area on the Ms coast.  Great digs Jim. Thanks for sharing the info.

I don't have the greatest camera, but here's the ones I've dug so far.  I also have some that were left in the house, presumably out of the yard too.  Next picture.

Others.  I have another bag somewhere.  Marbles aren't my thing so I must have misplaced them.

So, not only are you digging good bottles but also some really nice marbles too! I see a few nice German Swirls in there.

Must be nice to have an early dump in the back yard!
