The fish and hush puppies are cooked, so it's time to take them inside and enjoy.  Fresh from the creek to the table, can't wait to get into these.  Wife has some cole slaw and ice tea waiting, so I'll catch you folks later.  Hope you enjoyed this little side trip.  Didn't find any bottles worth keeping, but caught a fine mess of red bellies.  See you folks later.

Wild hogs??!!  Do they mess with your dogs?  The fish look great!  It is Rainbow Trout or Walleye for me.  But you can also get some Northerns, Salmon, Sunfish, Catfish, Perch....

Thanks for the comments,  I love a fresh mess of bream straight out of the creek.  It's great to have fresh water streams that are still accessable to fish in.  Although it's getting harder and harder to get permission..

Yes Julie, Wild hogs.  But most are domestic hogs that have escaped and returned to the wild.  I did run upon a herd of these type hogs once where I caught the bream.  There was the sow with a litter of pigs , just like in the attached photo.  The boar hog made a stand while the sow and pigs and rest of the herd  made it up the hill and out of the swamp. I had my pistol , but he didn't charge, just stood his ground with his bristles raised.  I didn't move.  I just looked around to locate a tree that I would be able to climb if necessary.

Some of the hunting plantations actually put out feed for wild hogs.  How would you like to run up on this hog in the wild?

I don't think my little pistol would slow one that size down.  But I always feel safer with my 22 pistol close at hand when I'm in an area that has wild hogs.

Maybe you'll have better luck next time Rhona.  One great thing about the south is that there is usually some type of fish that will bite any part of the year.  Crappie in the winter, bream and bass in the summer, and sometimes the fall is the best time , right after it cools off and before the hard freezes. Good luck on that dump.  Great Milks.

Rick.  Is that a mud fish (bowfin) you're lip locking with there? Or is it a catfish?  Ever had any catfish stew?  If I can catch a mess I'll show you a good recipe.  Dang dude, I just want to have a chance to escape not make sausage on the hoof.

Man, you cant eat those up here, some people do, but it aint a good idea.  On the one hand we have a lot of good milldumps to dig, on the other the mills put so much mercury in the ground and water that even if you catch trout or bass you shouldnt eat em more then once a month, sunny fish you shouldnt eat at all!  nice catch though!
