  Rick,

Those rocks look awful clean,I think you just piled them there for the picture.Lol,Doug

quote:

ORIGINAL: RICKJJ59W

It was the original pit for the yard,(1854)but the bottom was dipped! we got four more sodas 2 green applied tops a blob.and a 8 sided cobalt mineral water,a total of 10 sodas.
The stuff was getting older,we also found 3 broken historical flasks, a dark teal summer tree OP, a Washington Washington OP, and a Citron clasped hands, smooth base.Paul is going to KrAzY glue them back,we have enough pieces.

The total take was: ten sodas, 60s & 70s one Carters Master Ink,a brown glazed mug pot,and a few meds, I was hoping that it made it to the 50s but it was still a blast! As you can see by all the rocks we took out we thought it was going to the 50s haha!  Rick

So whatcha gonna do with the heart breaker shards you can't reassemble?  Lamp?  Glued to a board to display with bottles?  Glued to the backdrop of a bottle shelf?  stained glass style collage?  What do you do with broke off blob lips? do you save them for repairs?

My buddy is in to fixing them up,I will do it if there are 3 pieces  lol he go's nuts and glues every piece he has back together.
Thats a good idea I should save all the shards and make something out of them, but most times, back in the pit that go.(except the H.Flasks).Rick

I posted this before here it is again.

Wow!  yea we never found a flick of a shard of one of those up our way, they must have loved that chit around your area.
We had Seitz& Bros mineral water in the valley, the 8 sided cobalts, not that we find a million of those either just a lot more then a shard every 10 pits.Rick

Hey Rick, thats a shame about those flasks...  The summer winter is my favorite flask, I noticed you dig a lot of them down there!  Man I wish I could dig a few with ya, just to get one for the shelf that I actully dug!  After seeing the walls of that privy I'm not surprised not much survived, that thing looked jaws, dana-dana-dana-dana

Great dig Rick.  What's wrong with that pic is that I'm not sitting in that chair watching this dig live.  I know that somewhere, someday, there's that privy waiting on me. Just have to have patience.  Enjoying these privy digs. Keep up the good work and sharing.

Wait a minute here, everybody has to poop, and everyone had a privy...  do you guys think any of you are going to dig them all? that millions of privy's... if you live to 100 you will see 4800 weekends your entire life, that about 480 weekends in the 10 prime years you'll be digging...  I dont think you'll dig em all.

in reply to everyone, not just phila >

I'd better not catch you in my hole,Matt!Just kidding.

Rick,We dig very few Saratoga here also but I have dug several in one area of one town. Some nice ones, too but still have never dug a common Congress and Empire like the the broken ones pictured. What sucks here is we dig almost no squat sodas and if we get one it is normally a common from out of the area.I would say I dig 30  pre 1870 holes for every soda. This sucks because they are thick and don't break easily. If we had the sodas they have in Pa. I would be in heaven.Doug

most of my diggin buds including me are available to dig everyday of the week because we are either self employed, sick in the head, or both.

there are many privy diggers that dig the mid atlantic region. you are very correct about not being able to dig hem all, but sometimes you have to go where the bottles are. and in this case, its where rick is digging. and if anyone thinks they own a geographical region...they are very wrong unless they are Jesus. and i dont think Rick is Jesus.

i bet you use that for a guide how to spell it. and speaking of spelling, you spelled 'holmes' wrong. and there were many spelling and gramatical errors in your article.

sorry if i used a big word.
