Hi All -

I'm trying to find where this bottle came from.  It's a 7.5 inch light aqua blob with smooth base.  The embossing reads  ELM CITY/BOTTLING WORKS.

This bottle was purchased by a friend of mine at a bottle show here in Maine several years ago.  There was an Elm City Bottling Co. in Waterville, Maine but that only went back as far as 1923 so I don't think the bottle is from this area.  Anyone out there recognize it as coming from their neck of the woods?

Thanks - Sam

There is an Elm City in NC, New Haven CT is known as Elm City and there is a brewery and resturant right near you in Keene called the Elm City Brewery. Seems like an odd name for a Keene brewery. They may have some unknown little piece of history they could share with you. Worth a try.

Thanks for the info on the Elm City bottle Warren, that helps narrow down the search some.

In my first post I said I didn't think the bottle was from Maine.  capsoda's reference to Keene was Keene, New Hampshire not Maine. I feel it's safe to say it's not a Maine bottle, I was mostly curious if anyone knew where it did come from.

I stay about 10 minutes away from Elm City, NC.  The only bottle I know of from there is the "Cocktail Special" from the early 1900's.  A pretty rare bottle itself.

Elm was a very common tree in NE and most towns have at least a street named Elm. The trees just about got wiped out by Dutch Elm Disease. Most of them were gone by the 1970's.
