Doug, We dug one 1870s- 1880s pit about 3 years ago that has a couple hundred broken eggs in it and 3 intact ones. Heres a picture of mine its light as a feather and perfectly intact. The second picture is of the egg in an egg cup I dug the egg cup last year out of an 1860s layer. It was my second pick from that pit because I wanted it to display my mumified egg lol.

        Cool Chris!I knew somebody had to have dug eggs before.It just ****es you off when you think of all the good bottles that broke on the fall or with the dip bucket and a stupid egg survives.I know I have dug a couple egg cups before but since finding my eggs I've never located where I put them if I still have them.Thanks for posting.Doug
