Snow on the ground here finally, looks like I'm going to have some time to think about it!  Or dig the ash dumps...

Blade, I posted them on the other forum, which went off line today... it should be back soon but I'll get booted off this site for making reference to it by name or giving you a link...

Went out for a night dig tonight in a sketchy part of my home town (york) man that wasn’t a good idea. I always said I wouldn’t dig in york at night and I really should have stuck to that. Started digging around 8pm and finished at 12pm. During that time I encountered 6 crack heads, not the friendliest type, a gang of 6 straight out thugs decked out with their gats, and I heard one burst of pistol fire (5 shots) about 2 blocks away. For two hours this gang of 6 was breaking in 3 of the 4 abandoned houses that were around me all within 50 yards. They had no idea I was down 7 ft in a pit peaking up and watching there crazy activities. This brought digging to a near halt. For the last 30 mins I saw them, they were spray painting one of the houses with some more gang crap. I don’t know what they wrote but I do know what was on there before they got there and it was NUTS. One thing said some date cop shot in the head, you got what you deserved and the other stuff was pretty much to the same nature. It was just crazy and I sure as crap didn’t want them to catch me watching them. But with all that going on, I finished the pit, which turned out to be 1880s. I got a few bottles I haven’t seen before and a few local meds I didn’t have, a cough syrup from Baltimore I never dug before but probably common, and also a pretty cool chamber pot but I might only have about 60-80% of it, ill have to check tomorrow. Ill post pictures of all the bottles tomorrow after I clean them up, they are in the temp adjustment stage right now.

Nice digs Ry! Sounds like a few of the digs I've had in the hood! When we dig down there we are almost always approached by crackheads, prostitutes, and gang bangers. I'm usually strapped and try to keep a watch up top so no one can sneak up on me! I've actually never had any Real problems and you definatly don't have to worry about the cops down there, they've got bigger problems to deal with!
I can't tell you anything about the N.Y. druggist but let me know what you find out on it. I'd be interested in it if you want to trade or sell it. My dad's side of the family is from Poughkeepsie and we still go up there to visit pretty regularly. As a matter of fact, the next time we drive up I'm gonna bring my probe and do some digging!!! Chris

Unlike the Hoyt's bottles, the local perfume bottles can be pretty neat and rare to boot.
I've managed to get almost ten San Francisco perfumes (Not including Florida Waters) over the past 25 years of collecting.  Most of these are similar Hoyt-style bottles.

Is the white block lime??? Blocks like that are used in making lewelry. if you have ever seen a nugget pendant or ring they origanlly started out as a craving in a block just like that.

I have seen many different nickle colognes that used that same style bottle but Hoyt's must have been a national favorite.

You could always lick it and see if it tasted like lime but make sure all your shots are up to date....

I will lick it, I have a strange taste in my mouth, I just ate very old goat cheese and that block may be what I need to rid of the taste. You be crazy if u diggin solo in the ghetto! Are u? very Risky! You should hit me up bra because we can dig and fight crime at the same time with a block of lime and that might rhyme. very Cool finds diggaRy! Lions and tigers and bears oh my!
