Thanks for the invite Ry. This year I think we're planning a trip up in the fall. Possibly September or October. I'll have my wife with me. She doesn't dig but does like to hang out up top and watch. Chris

Wow, you know your tail is lucky.  Don't go pushing them guardian angels too far.  Mine are wore out, but I got years on ya.  Finds to drool for but not to die for.  Invite a friend, hint hint!  Love those York meds.

Doug, thanks. We ended up with a handful of "displays well" bottles but every one had some sort of damage such as a hole in the bodie or a messed up lip. We dug over 50 of these beauties and not a perfect one, thats hard on ya but im just greatful to have been in such an early context, its a completly differnt experience ill tell ya. Chris is working on the pottery now. Can you amagine cleaning 10 5 gallon buckets of pottery shards? WOW  Takes a long time, he will post pictures of them later im sure.

Matt, acutally you would be suprized how much they did throw away back then. Alot of 1700's holes have a lot of crap in them, mostly broken like this one.

Bob, Thanks man and yep she was a very wet hole the last 4 ft

Steve, thanks buddie, no wasnt a tavern hole just a very early home

Rick, I love crazy too

I've heard stories about when I-95 was being built in Philly and the incredible, super early stuff that was found there. One of the guys was an archy for the federal govt. until the Reagan years when they cut funding for that sort of thing. All this priceless stuff that disappeared into the black hole of the federal beaurocracy.I always wondering if he was full of it with some of his stories. I guess probably they were true!

That is some killer age! I can't wait to see the ceramics. A pit of that era is a rare treat indeed. Way to go, guys. That pit pre-dates my entire town by about 40 years. ~Jim

Thanks Jim and Stephen, the ceramics will be posted soon. Still being cleaned, there is about 400 lbs of them! No pressed or applied seals sadly.

Always interesting to see what comes out of older holes, looks like you had a a good chance to pull a couple whole ones near misses etc. Can't wait to see the reconsructed pottery was it heavily decorated????
