hi robert i hate to be a pain in the butt but if you put the bottles inside the window seal with the sunlight somewhat above at about 11;00am east or 1;00 pm west it will shine through and show the true color .the pics you took outside put a glare on the glass and it makes them look lighter.check out the bottleshow.com and jeff and hollys sites they are realy good at getting clear pics so you can truely see the color of their bottles

I've found the setup for taking good photos varies greatly with the type of camera you use. I have never been able to get a good window sill photo with my camera. It just cant handle the light contrast. I can only get good color photos out in sunlight or with high power wide spectrum lighting. I envy the people that can take those nice shots in the window. Some day I'll break down and get a better camera.

Thanks Michael for the kind words regarding my Bottleshow website.

Robert, I would call the GXIII-3 a light apple green, and the GI-17 a pale vaseline color. Both colors are light, so it would be best to show them in as many lighting situations as possible, if you decide to sell them. By the way, I hope you are enjoying those railroad flasks!

Hey Robert I would say Dougs pretty close with the light  green and lite to pale vaseline .Its true that there are so many greens out there it really hard to to tell . You may even want to take some pic of the flasks along side of say a bottle or two that your sure about the colors (ie other greens an aquas) to give something to compare them with . Ive had the same type of question in more than one case .Like what would you call this one green or dark aqua . I say lite green . others say aqua . Good luck. bill

The color depends if you're buying or selling....buying aqua, selling green.   The true color of any bottle is in the base where the glass is thickest. not always the easiest thing to capture on you cam though.

Example: what color is this strap side?

I was thinking yellow at first, looks like there is some color there, but I've seen that yellow lighting turn aqua and clear and even purple stuff yellow...  its a hard call, and I figured you had a trick up your sleeve...!

its a pertty flask, I still have a thing for straps...
