Damn Lobey you been watching too much TV. It's not Dukes Of Hazzard or In the Heat of the Night down here. No Tobacco Road or what's that movie w/ Samule Jackson? In 48 years never been to a Klan meeting or Cross burning. Never even been to a lynching. The young boy that got killed here a while back was white while the six arrested for killing him where not. Now if it were the other way around Jesse and Al would be camped out down here and Jenna, Ala. wouldn't even be a blip on the radar screen. However this feller greets ya at my house. You got one? Ya don't see these no more in these parts. And a watermellon on top of that.

Now you know i was joshin ya Osia and that fella on your porch is a right handsome gent. I myself tend to smile much like that when I'm eating watermelon. I know the clan boys ain't what they use to be and as for the gang bangers white or black, a good ole fashion necktie party ain't not a bad thing. I was down Tennessee way not too long ago visiting my pwt sister and only received a handful of suspicious sideward glances. Even down those dirt roads people where right nice. Helped me scout out a few good acres of bottom land i plan on farming a good old fashioned holistic herb garden on.
Ricky.

Might have been the same guy with the Topper I saw, who knows.  I remember seeing one guy at another show (in S.C.) that had ACLs that were priced real high like that.....

People (eh..dealers) have to remember that when a bottle goes for the big bucks on eBay, it's because of two things - either it's worth it OR too many people are wanting the same bottle and no one wants to back down.  And nothing any more is written in sand...

Me 'n' Marc McClendon was talking about the ACL book tonight and "prices" came up.   So, we talked about how some bottles will go for too high and other, great and much rarer bottles, just fall under the radar for next to nothing (well, except for postage, which is ridiculous).  So, it's being discussed that there'll be a rarity rating with a scale for value instead.   That way, it won't be a "price guide" that becomes outdated before the ink is dry on the pages.

In the meantime, I am still admiring my Maumee Valley bottle from Paul.   Which reminds me to say a big THANK YOU to him for taking the trouble to pick it up for me.

Have been a bit "quiet" on the forum for the past few days.  Working on trying to get Bottles and Extras to the printer on time (next Monday) - then straight on to doing the current issue due for The Soda Fizz.  But I do keep up with what you guys post (on the ACL part of things, at least).  So, keep posting great stuff for me to ooohhh and aaahhh over.

And - those of you who received freebie Fizzies, don't forget to send in your membership so you won't miss the next one.  I've got some awesome stuff to put into it just sitting here ready for my fingers to type it all in....so, no problem with this one being another 56-pager.

Oh gawd, you did it to me again.  Here I am typing away - in a reply to Pat about a Topper bottle, along with some rambling of other stuff, and I hit "OK" to post - and it ends up at the end of a Klan meeting.....

Oh well.  I got to learn to keep up.

the idea of a scale rating how rare a bottle is sounds like a great idea. while the prices go all over the place the rarity of a bottle usually doesn't change that much. can't wait for the book to come out. reminds me i've gotta get my subscription payment in the mail.

Hi Kathy, you're welcome glad to help out.  I sent for a book also.  I think that goes to you also?  Tried to use the Paypal button to buy it and it didn't work for me.  Kind of interesting when I went back to buy your bottle there was a guy at the counter that asked me if I like Pop bottles.  I said I was just kind of picking up a few and he said his Grandma had a whole garage full of them.  Anyway, I got together with him to look at some stuff.   I will make a new post with some pics when I get home.                              Paul

Paul, I haven't gotten your book stuff yet.  Yep, that goes thru me too.

I like BubbasDad's comment about scale.  He puts it better than I did.  He's right, price goes all over the place, depending on the source (eBay, auction, flea market, etc.), but rarity doesn't usually change (unless someone has been hiding a stash in their basement or a dozen cases of them pop un in a warehouse somewhere - and how often does that happen?). Plus, rarity doesn't seem to be something we can't figure out.  Price - another story altogether.

I'll get Rick to send you your book.  Give him a few days - sometimes he takes longer than others.

Please check out my post about the book, that has addressed some questions I've been getting.
