NOW DAMN THAT IS A RECORD COLLECTION! I could go there and not be seen again for days! I have mine in victorian chests,on the floor lining around the walls and a 1930s record cabinet with just my BEATLE stuff in it.[wish I could find a butcher cover at a flea market for a $1] I have a 1970s record player to play them on. Hard to believe some systems run into the thousands of dollors! Yea we are all hooked and I love IT!

Over the past months, I have wanted to post some pics of the inside of my garage and outbuilding, but I am afraid that if I do, someone close to me that sees them will see how sick I actually am as well, and would take steps ot have me committed...............

Nice albums, got any Strawbs or early Genesis?  We have a bunch of the Mother in Laws old Big band, etc. but not being kept up.  I know excellant condition or nothing for some of this stuff.  Any good websites?  My wife was telling me about a neighbor that was going to rip out and redo the rooms in a local old house.  First thing out of my mouth was "Wow, he should check for bottles while he'
s doin' that!"  She got disgusted and remarked, "you have a one track mind"  "Do not", I replied. "That would be the first thing any bottle collector would think of"
So misunderstood

THE best book that most all record collectors recognize is GOLD MINE . THE one I have is GOLDMINE 5TH EDITION AMERICAN RECORDS 1950-1975. I buy records because I love the music and I play them. A RECORD COLLECTOR MAY NEVER LET A NEEDLE TOUCH A CERTAIN RECORD BECAUSE IT MAY DAMAGE IT! OF course I like to know if I have a rare record worth big bucks, thus the goldmine book. GOLDMINE puts out a very expensive mag. that comes out twice a month .A years subscription is over $100! I wait for a while and then they send me a "SPECIAL DEAL " of a years subscription for about $25 ,plus a free 25 word ad! THEY also have a web site I think ,I don't go to it because,I have enough GOLD MINE stuff. I paid about $35 for the book ,more than I have ever paid for a record! A BEATLES " BUTCHER COVER" is worth $8000 plus depending on the condition and the record itself adds little to nothing to the value. THE cover was found offensive because it showed the BEATLES in doctors smocks with chopped babies on them and around them!A new cover replaced the butcher one . THE name of the record is YESTERDAY AND TODAY.

Wow..I thought I had a lot at around 700!!!  I do have a new turntable set up to play directly into my computer to ditigally record the tracks.  Some 60's, but mostly 70's and 80's stuff....

I'd be lost - but happy - exploring your collection......Ron

PLEASE FIND ME A "THIRTEETH FLOOR ELEVATORS" album! One can be found on ebay at times but,I can't afford them, that is why I would have to trade for one.If someone finds one ,look back at the description I first gave as there are live albums,cd's ,singles, reissues etc. AT this point I would seattle for just a playable copy, but with a very nice cover[the cover is so cool] Of  course the trade would be for less ,but that would be better for me as I hate to get rid of a bottle or bottles. I know I can't get something for nothing. In the condition I am talking about[playble"scratches ,some background noise ,but the songs can still be heard well,GOOD COVER,some light scuffing ,some ring ware etc.] The record would be worth about $50 for the1 m green and yellow label and about $25 for the1 m all yellow label.[which came out in 1968 instead of the green and yellow label 1967] About $35 for the 1 s all yellow stereo version.

I'm not the only OCD person! I inherited a collection from my grandparents which included some of their kids' stuff from the 50's-70's and my parents from the 80's, boy is the 80's stuff scary. There is a pretty wide mix of stuff. G-ma gospel, g-pa country "western", mom-50's rock and she had an obsession with Kennedy has his speeches on record, Dad-he was a (I bet he lit up a bit) dead head, ccr, aerosmith, zepplin, steve martin, and a huge bill cosby fan, those have to be my favorite, my kids listen to him talk about his brother roland and laugh their @$$*$ off. Almost bought a Santana the other day but passed it up, I'm rethinking that. I'll look for ya glassman

THANKS ALL FOR SHARING RECORD STORIES! I love them almost as much as bottles and good ones can still be found cheap!I collect mostly 60s music. YES THE 80s stuff was a bad time to me musically.Teckno pop I just could not get in to .All you needed was a machine, etc. I may have 4 albums from the 80s. MTV ALSO DICTATED WHAT WAS GOOD OR NOT! I loved the days of anolog when a band got together and made a whole album in hours or days! MAN THAT WAS TALENT AND IT STILL SOUNDS GOOD! NOW  with digital anybody can sound good by pushing the right knobs. IT isn't about talent 'but packaging,MILI ACKY BREAKY WHO EVER! WILL the music hold up in 40 + years? NO! BUT PEOPLE WILL STILL BE LISTINING TO THE BEATLES etc! RECORD COLLECTING IS GROWING AND NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO GET IN ON THE GROUND FLOOR! GET A RECORD BOOK PUT OUT BY "GOLD MINE" MOST ALL COLLECTORS GO BY THIS BOOK.THERE IS A LOT TO KNOW! JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A BEATLES ALBUM DON'T MEAN YOU HAVE GOLD!IS IT A REISSUE,CONDITION IS A HUGE PART OF IT AND AFTER 40YEARS OF BEING PLAYED IT IS LIKELY WORTH 1/4 VALUE!THANKS JAMIE!
