Status: offline 		I prefer my bottles empty,but white lables irk me. Just can't make them out across the room, and ya can't paint them styro beads. That just don't work. My solution,coffee grinds. Works for me. Talking about nothing to do.

Status: online 		I've got to tell you my Big Rock story.  I've had a fair to poor Big Rock that a friend picked up for me several years ago for my collection (probably around 10 - 15 dollars.)  A couple of years ago, my son and I were on I-20 headed to Atlanta when I decided to stop at the antique mall in Covington or Conyers, I can't remember which.  We hadn't been there two minutes when it caught my eye.  In about the fifth booth there sitting with a Dr. Enuf was a dead mint 12 oz. Big Rock.  Got um both for $15.00.  You'll spend another two solid years in antique stores before that will happen.  I love the Brown Boy, absolutely in the top two or three Ga bottles.  Pretty nice Columbia bottle you picked up today, Pat.  Keep the super nice ACL's coming...when things slow down for me, I'll try to take and post some pictures of my stuff.  I've got to stop having that dream of going to Brunswick to the antique store downtown and finding that dusty mint Big Hit in the corner with all the throw away bottles!!

Status: offline 		Two for 15 not bad. Got my 12 for 50 and the one here for 10,so it all works out. 15 a killer deal for both. As far as Brunswick goes forget about it. Used to work at the paper mill there and would drop in to see. No luck. So now I call every so often. Man said he had one and someone stoll it. They also know what they're worth. That bottle today and . Something wasn't right there.  Paula harkins. I'll get back in a min.

Status: online 		Only in a dream.  The bad thing about the Brown Boy and the Big Hit both is any fool can tell it's worth something because of the cool colors and the themes.  Too many black memoralbilia and baseball theme collectors.  Also sometimes in antique stores when looking for ACL's - if the colors are bright, and not too many scratches, folks have jacked the price up way high even on common bottles.  The days of finding that rare, nice ACL are gone, unless they are under the house, in the attic, or in a wall or something.  Every now and then fairly rare ACL's are out there to be found in stores, but they are getting fewer and fewer.

At this very second. I didn't think I'd make a mess like this,hey I'm a scaffold builder what ya expect. Used to be a Union carpenter,but got tired of they're BS. Had to be a Mason. Gonna sand it again in the morn. Don't know how many times it's gonna take. A buddy offered to turn me on to a Mexican to finnish it. Had to pass. I built my house single hande I'll do this.

Status: online 		Should be at least 8 inches on each side of the seam. if you dont have a mixing paddle and a half inch drill take a stick (like a dowl or something not a tree branch ) and whip up the compound  a bit. makes it a little runny but it goes on smoother. Sanding blows, the trick is to lay it on almost perfectly. It's all abouty how you hold the knife. More pressure towards the outside of the blade, like such....
If it's a large room and you still need plenty of sanding go to the rent-a-center and get a power sander with vac

Status: offline 		Hey Lobes, a good many years ago, it was actually a three application . I can remember starting with a four inch knife, on to an eight inch, and then finishing off with a twelve inch knife. These days it is pretty much a two application as you state .
They also now have on the market a spong that is used for finishing off drywall joints . It has a smooth side and sort of a rough side. You use it wet, and in doing so eliminates the dust. I tried the sponge once, but could not get a good result from it. I have talked to others that use the sponge with great success .

Status: online 		It's still usually a three step process, but I hate doing it and usually forget about the 12 inch run unless specified. I have a few of the sponges but I've never heard of using them wet, don't think it's possible. You'd just make mud.

Status: offline 		I hate sheetrock. Out of the nine rooms in my house, this is the only one not done in wood. I know why I did that. This stuff is whipping my butt. I suck at this. Look at that mess. The difference between a good carpenter and a bad one is a good one can fix his mistakes. It'll take a while, but I'll get it.

Yip that's about all you can do with out ripping the crap off and starting again. See the thing about taping is, not too much not too little. I run the tape through a banjo, ( i want you to stay away from the banjo for Paula's sake) and hit it with a 4" knife. On a hot dry day it will cure in an hour or two. Next you run an 8" down the center of the tape, then feather like in the pic. I don't hold the blade like that anymore, but that's how I learned. After that I've usually had enough and call it quits for the day. Third coat is very light, should be done with a 12" knife but I usually use an 8 and work it ou to about 10" do it like in the pic.. Bubbles under the tape means you didn't loay down an even coat (a bare spot) or yuou squeezed out all the mud on your pass. Next time use the mesh tape. It sticks to the board without compound and you'll never ever get a bubble.. When hitting the corners and taping's not one of your best talents do one side of the corner and let it dry before doing the next. The only good thing about compound is mistakes are easy to fix. Hell I've filled pretty large holes with the crap and made them invisible.
Paula's poor floor looks worse than it is. Knock off any thick clumps and mop it away. Made me laugh my ass off though, cuz bud I been there. I tape sheet plastic to the edge these days, but preping that is about as bad as the tape job itself. Do it before you paint Pat ole boy or you'll cry I really can't think of one damn thing I like about a tape job.
