Hi Woody - here's is the base to the jar, has some markings but they are either peened out, or a week strike, look almost Japanese. I dont know if this was a jar or a battery jar. JGuis - I'm always amazed how diggers come up with some of the same methods for finding dumps just after years of doing it. I've had dumps with a central ravine, then the newer level off, then the cap. This one seems to be along an old tote path which had a field stone retaining wall, which I've discovered down a couple of feet, the older stuff is in along the base of that wall down deep. I'm hoping there's more. Lots of roots and bugs slow me down, but the good thing is I don't have to rush it, as I'm not bothering anyone out there. Good luck digging and thanks for the response.
