Excellent stuff there.  What is the average price range on those?  30+ a piece?  And speaking of those Yuenglings...drank a ton of it when I went to school in PA.  Awesome stuff.  Went to MD the last two Memorial Days and bought 2 cases each time.  Home much do those in blobs average.  Once again congrats on the digs.

Depends on the collector I say.  I have given way more for something I needed for my collection.  In an ideal world I'd already have my two top shelf I've been looking for.  Down from three cause I just aquired it
anyway
glad you enjoyed it and one last thing
Could you all say a little pray that its not a hernia......
Every little bit helps

the old stuff is not embossed " Yuengling ". the original name was the " Eagle Brewing Co " and it's my understanding that they are the original Yuenglings. It sounds nice but i've never confirmed this. would be nice if someone had an old squat with    Eagle Brewing Co.
                     Pottsville  PA
embossed on it eh ???

if you look at the Yuengling logo and advertising, it has always carried the Eagle as a focus of it's brand. just hoping someone on here has some info.  thanx in advance.

hey ry
due to the branch in the claw and the writing opposite of the (phia) on the rib i checked and found those to match the GI-90 lafayette flask the GI-14 the claw doesnt have the branch over the (W) in TWD that would make that one comparetively scarce by the mckearins book would have been a great flask
keep up the diggin

hey ry
according to mckearins the left  talon holds 4 arrows or thunder bolts and the right holds olive branch that is GI-90 and the GI-14 holds 5 thundrbolts in the righ talon and olive branch in the left if you need i can take pic of each and embed them on the post
bob

easier is as you look at it
right side has arrows left has branch on the GI-14 it would be opposite hope that helps

insurance purpose between 4 to 600$

Are you about to show us the good one that came out with it? If intact it would be in the $300-$500 range.Good luck out there.

No just curious.  I wish.  I went back to the hole yesterday and topped it with topsoil filled in some other low spots in the yard. We're putting in some pavers and crushed stone for a garbadge can area.  We reseeded a big portion that had no grass.  After, I broke out the maps and sure enough we found another 1840 50s stone liner about 20 feet away.  The property lines changed since the days of old.  There were two fires and they moved three houses to the back alley.  If my calculations are right which I believe they are we will be in some color tomorrow.
I posted early this year in January three colored sodas.  I said this might be a banner year and the bottle gods are with us so far.

Yuengling was established in 1829 and was called the Eagle Brewing company at the time. Their business was located by City Hall in Pottsville and in 1830 it burnt down so they moved it to Mahantongo St. where the old building still stands today. When the original building burnt down, the Eagle Brewing Co. became Yuengling so there is no sodas embossed with the Eagle Brewing company from Pottsville, Pa.

Yuenglings oldest bottle is an early pontiled wine bottle but it is not embossed. They did not make any true squats, but they have a pony blob, tall blob, amber ladies leg squat with a blob top and one with a crown top. In the late 1800s to early 1900s they produced a lot of different types of beer bottles too. One other neat bottle they produced were milks during prohibition which are always a fun to find when digging around Pottsville.

Privydigger, can you post some of the names of the Tamaqua squats? I would be interested in knowing which ones you found.

The Tamaqua squats were A. Raab and a Grell or Crell.

Each town has a different number or ratio.  We call it paying dues.  20 to 1, 16 to 1, 8 to 1, 4-5 to 1 Something like that. We dig them all no matter what age.
The colored soldgers are a rare find.
Everyone was dirt floor poor!
The local stuff are the keepers in my mind.  I like the other stuff but being a local collector and not being able to find the old ones is sometimes frustrating.  However, if it were easy everyone would be doing it.

You dont see me post bad holes, this isnt because every hole we dig has stuff.

Its a luck of the draw game everywhere I have dug. Maybe a coal region digging tour might be on the schedual for June? Probably not, but if you guys want to hit up Philly let me know, i'd love to dig a few interesting soders out your way.
